I have 17 inch American Muscle Torque Thrust II wheels. Right now the tires I have on them are 245 45 17s. Its time for me to get new tires on the rear and I was wondering if I could run larger tires than what I have on now. Nothing a whole lot bigger just a little. Possibly a little wider and taller.

Yes, you can run bigger tires. We need to know the width of your rear rims however. For example, I am running 17x10.5 Rims with 315 tires. I imagine your model can fit the same size mine can.

^ what Zat said :yes

8" wheel = 245's max
8.5" wheel = 255's max
9" wheel = 275's max
10" wheel = 305's max
10.5" wheel = 315's max

Pretty sure they are just 17 x 8. I was thinking about 275 40 17s but that might be a little much. Maybe 265s. I dont mind the side bump but I also dont want the tires to wear out in 5k miles. I never do burnouts or anything like that in my car so the tires I have now have lasted forever, just trying to get a tad more traction.

I'm running 255 Nitto's on my stock 17x8 rims. I wouldn't go any bigger than a 265 on a 17x8.:)

Jazzer, I like the new Sig pic. Your car is BA :D

^ Grazzi :yes

17"x8" wheel = 245's MAX!

If one wants a wider tire, buy a wider wheel in which to run it properly :D

If you're looking at Nitto's, I wouldn't be afraid to run a 275 on a 8" wheel, as Nitto's tend to run a little on the narrow side. I've put 10K miles on my 275/40R17 NT555's already, with no adverse wear.

If this wasn't anything but a DD, I'd buy a set of wheels for it and stick some 315's in the rear, but I spend my $$ on my other toys.

I have run nothing but 275s on my stock 98 rims for years.

I had 275 MT DR on for a year, DD it. no problems.

I've ran the Cooper zeon sport A/S 275/40r17 on my 94 cobra. 30psi front 29psi rear. Tire rotations every 3000 miles and I get 30000 out of every set. My wheels are 17x8
