My car didn't come with a backup camera, but I do have the nav system. Does anyone know if an aftermarket backup camera can be added pretty easily? Is there a video input on the back of the nav unit or something?

Trying to find something, I've seen threads mentioning it being an easy install, but none linking to an aftermarket item or install guide anywhere.

Almost makes me wish I had gotten the nav setup on mine. Almost.

One hell of a nice find Coyote12!

Maybe you guys have some type of IP-blocking in place? To answer the OP's question, yes, the site linked sells a box that'll unlock the nav and backup camera feed features built into but locked out of the Sync (?) display. As well as wire harnesses and cameras for said feature. Pretty freakin' nifty.

Thats awsome you can hook up two cameras!!

But on mine, my phone is synked to the car and my phonebook is downloaded to the car. When I go through my phone book looking for a name it will only let me view so many names before it wont let me any more

Will this unlock me to fully view my phone book while driving??

I e-mailed them and they said "No. That is not a feature of the LockPick."

I found that last night too, just hadn't had a chance to post it here. From what I read, you can just get the adapter harness, an aftermarket camera and then have a Ford tech unlock the camera feature on the nav unit, no need to have that lockpick, unless you want all those other features. I would just want the camera when backing personally, don't care about all the rest, so I wouldn't waste the $300 bucks. I checked and my car has the harness on the decklid under the cover, just waiting to have something plugged into it.

Let us know how it turns out. Wonder how they have to unlock it?

Taken from the other site. I would assume this would work exactly the same for the GT. Although, I would hope that I would just plug the camera into the harness and it would work right away.

So after a long day of searching and speaking to a Master Ford Technician, I have discovered a few things that I am going to try when I get my car on Monday (crossing fingers!)...

These are the instructions he gave me: First I needed to find a 2011 Mustang GT with all the same options as my car + the reverse camera.

Using Burning Blue Star IV's technique for pulling VINs for the 2010-2011 GT500s, I grabbed about 200 vins from the 2011 Mustang GTs and went through each to find a car with the same features as my car in addition to the Rear Video Camera.

I found this VIN: 1ZVBP8CF4B5108689 (Someone please confirm! )
It has

Electronics Package (Nav System)
Shaker 500
Ambient Lighting
Sync
Sirius Radio
Security Package
HID Headlamps
Rear Camera
Comfort Package
Manual Transmission
3.73 Gears

Which seems close enough to my car. The Tech said that the only options that need to be the same are the ones controlled by the ACM.

These are the steps that should be done at a ford dealer by the technician:

1. Check and see if the connector for the camera is already present on
the wiring harness in the trunk lid. If there, plug the camera in and see what happens.
2. If the camera functions when the car is in reverse, there is no need
to continue, otherwise proceed to step 3.
3. Input 1ZVBP8CF4B5108689 into OASIS to get the “As-Built” data
for that car. Copy the “As-Built Data”
4. Introduce the GT500 to the IDS and go to “Special Tools”
5. Input the code 53061
6. Go to “Programmable Module Installation”
7. Select “ACM”
8. Tech will be prompted to add the “As-Built Data” to the ACM
9. Input the copied “As-Built Data” from step 3 to enable the camera
10. Reprogram the ACM with the new data.

OR Call the Ford Hotline and ask them to decipher the As-Built Data from 1ZVBP8CF4B5108689 to get the code to make the camera work.

I'm going to give this a shot when my car comes in and I'll keep everyone updated. Please note that this particular VIN should only work if there is a Navigation system in your GT500.
