I have a 94 mustang and it is overheating...i had to put 2 qrts of oil...when i start it i shakes a lot but then it goes away once it is on for a while. the check engine light is on... i do not know what it is. can it be the thermostat?
Take it somewhere to have the check engine light read (pull the codes). Don't keep driving it if it's overheating. Thermostat maybe, check for coolant leaks, check to see that the cooling fan is coming on, etc... If you're having to add that much oil, you may have a leak there too or you may have internal engine issues (rings or valve guides/seals).
