So here's the problem. I thought it might have been the transmission because with the windows up it sounds like it comes from the shifter or underneath the car. Turns out it's from the front of the engine? It's a slight ticking noise when I'm idling. Then when I'm driving the car the belt starts to squeal like a stuck pig. I've changed out the tensioner thinking the spring might be giving out, but that didn't do any good. So I'm thinking it might be the idler pulley? Anyone got any ideas what else it could be??

does the frequency change with rpm's or intensity? have you had your head under the hood while revving to help locate?

Use a large screwdriver to help amplify the sound. hold the handle against your ear and move around to various areas of the motor to see if you can pinpoint.

Yea the higher the RPMs go the more intense the squealing gets. The clicking noise comes to a steady rhthym when I'm idling. It sounds like it's from where my idler and tensioner are.
