I was messing around with my clutch pedal this afternoon trying to adjust the height of it so it didn't sit up so high. Well I managed to break the plastic piece that runs from the top of the clutch pedal shaft to a electric control box just behind the pedal. The car wouldn't start after I got everything put back together so I started investigating this box.

I quickly realized that there is a metal piece that moves in and out where the plastic used to go through. So I taped it down and the car started up. My question is, will this screw anything up with the car or am I fine leaving it how it is? The cool thing is I can now start the car without pushing the clutch in.
