we had an s550 5.0 automatic, had .315 gears performance pack 2 from ford racing, resonator removed h pipe and an axleback. it ran great with the ford pro cal 3 tune. the we got rid of it and got an s197 2011 gt with 5.0, has no cats, 315 gears an an auto trans,h pipe, cold air induction, lth axlebacks, and a bama tune. the s197 is by far faster than the 17 s550, but with the same motor, same trans, and same rear gears ,why would this car be extremely faster than the s550. what could have been donr to the motor or anything else on the s197 to make it that much faster than the s550

What is co sidered much faster? You taking it to the track? What are the trap speeds? Or are you just doing street pulls

Probably the tune and weight difference. The S550 is like 200 pounds heavier than the S197.
200 lbs isnt that much of a difference, .2 seconds in the quarter at best.


My money is on the placibo affect from the louder exhaust.

A few weeks ago I got a 17 gt pp with 3.73s and an m6 and it feels slower than my 07 gt but holy hell its a lot faster. Now I have no way of proving that but just from driving them back to back the 17 is much quicker. My 07 is loud and my 17 is quiet, so I also vote for the placebo effect.
