Do i have to use a mechanical fuel pump that runs off of the cam when changing from EFi to carburetor? Or can i just use a fuel pressure regulator with the in tank fuel pump?

you can use the standard mustang EFI pump with the correct return style regulator.

Mallory and Aeromotive make regulators that will work. If you try to use a dead head regulator the EFI pump will blow the guts right out of the regulator and into your carb.

Yeah, holley makes a return regulator, but the cheapies aren't return style.

I changed the pickup in mine to a carbed style, and just eliminated the electric fuel pump. I have a mechanical Holley pump and regulator now. I learned that regulator lesson the "hard way". ;)

ive never heard of using the EFI pump like that before, so no clue there.
I actually have a holley red fuel pump, which says requires no regulator, I have one to install anyhow.
