I have a 2.3 large journal block. i also have a 2.5 ranger crank. I plan on making the engine a stroker with 5.7 rods and pistons from esslinger. The problem i have is i know that i will need bearing spacers to fit the 2.5 crank in my large journal block, but i dont know what size bearings i need on top of the spacers, also can i use my 2.3 main bearing caps or will i need to get 2.5 bearing caps? THANKS

The cost of the spacers might make you think twice about just getting an 89' or later block from the local JY; I would if it were my project.

If you're going to the trouble of the 2.5 crank and 5.7 rods + pistons, I'd highly recommend you start with a fresh cylinder bore, which would be required in any case when you migrate to a forged piston set. Obviously you're going to need to get whatever block you use cleaned and the new rotating assembly will need balancing; see where I'm going? What are you planning to do with your engine, e.g. Ministock, drag, street?
