SUP EVERYBODY

so i just picked up my first stang, iv always been a chevy guy but the mustang turned me and the ford ranger haha, but its one bad car i love it so far its got 131k miles and seems to be running and driving good, and i plan on putting some money into it but first i wanna see if its a good platform or if i should just sell it and try and find a better car

but the only things im coming across right now are

THE CD PLAYER (radio works fine, awesome system with radio at top and cd player on bottom) radio works and looks like the cassett player even works but i cant figure out how to get the CD PLAYER to do anything, i mean the lights come on all around it but the screen on the cd player is blank and it hasnt done anything since i got it, i tried looing in the owners manual and they just said cd player is on when high performance electronic adio system is on or something (basiscly didint tell me **** haha) but i was hoping you guys could tell me whats up? i checked it out and people have been saying maby the fuse is out or something but idk i just wanna play my cd haha

and the other thing that iv found thats kinda worrying me is when i get on it real hard (drive it like your supposed to) it sometimes gets a tick tick tick real quick and pretty noticible, not really a knock or anything but more of a tick tick tick real rapid, im trying to figure out what it is and why it only does it in the high RPMs so if anybody can help me out id appriciate it, maby lifters? or i was told it needed a thow out barring but it doesnt rattle or tick when clutch is out or in so idk

but yah i know you guys out there know your **** and im new to mustangs and fords so lemme know whats up with my new baby hahaha

for the cd player, try feeding a cd into it and see what happens. when you feed the cd in, the player will pull it in the rest of the way. if the cd player does this but does not automatically start to play the cd, use a credit card with the eject button to remove the cd-------use the credit card if the eject button does not spit out the cd.

for the high rpm tick, try revving the engine up to the high rpm in neutral. does the tick sound appear? if it is still there in neutral, it could be a stuck lifter, loose rocker arm, bent valve or pushrod; basically anything with the valvetrain.

a bad throwout bearing will squeal and the squeal will go away when you push in the clutch pedal......it will be present all the time, not just at high rpms.

thanks man yah i tried to put in a cd (it would not take it) wouldnt even try to

but yah the ticking does not happen in the high Rs when i rev it in nuetral, only happens when its pulling and i thought about the throw out bearing but it doesnt really do anything when you push the clutch in or out

but yah got anymore ideas about the cd player? i mean it lights up all the buttoms but the lcd screen is just blank so im not sure

and any other ideas about the tick?

For the cd player, I had the same problem. What I had to end up doing was taking the cd and tape player and pute a nice after market head unit in. It's real easy to do. Especially with as many miles as yours has, those cd players were definantly not made to last that long. I haven't found one yet that has.

I think the CD player is just luck of the draw. Id just buy an aftermarket head unit. Now a days they pretty much all come with a spot to hook up your ipod too so thats always a plus. The installation kit brings a "pocket" in place of the cd player.

unplug the battery for a few min it might reset the cd player it worked on my buddies 02 mach 460 cd player and as for the tick deff. check the timing and what kinda fuel are you running through it you can run regular but it might ping at high rpms.

Unless he has an aftermarket chip that increases total timing or he is using the J4J1 Cobra ECM, he should always run regular 87 octane gas. He just does not have a need to use 93 octane.
