A good technique would be to add a Glaze, Sealant, and then Wax.
A Glaze will add oils and other things to the paint to make it "Pop". It also has light fillers for any swirls and light scratchs that might have shown up since the paint job.
Light Colored Glaze: Poorboy’s World White Diamond Show Glaze for Light Vehicles cleans and hides fine swirls on light paints, silvers, pearls, and white.
Dark Colored Glaze: Poorboys Black Hole Show Glaze can be applied any time to hide minor imperfections and to enhance gloss on black, red, and all dark vehicles.
A Sealant is, in all basic forms, a synthetic wax. It "Seals" in the shine that the paint has and adds protection. It comes in a liquid form and depending on your enviroment and what the car goes through, can last anywhere from 3-6 Months. Apply it thin and let it cure for about 6 hours. Sealants last longer than natural waxed, but lack some shine. You can accomplish this by added a Carnuba Wax 24 hours after your sealant coat.

Paste Wax is natural Carnuba based wax that has been around for a long time. Of course, it has been improved some. Carnuba Paste Wax will last you, depending on the enviroment of course, 2-3 months. It has less durability than Sealants, but more luster. Apply it thin and let cure for about an hour.

If you have access to a Porter Cable DA Polisher, use it with a Gray pad to apply the Glaze. If you do not, you can apply it by hand. Apply the Sealant and Wax by hand as well with Package of 6 Pinnacle Foam Wax Applicators
Apply all of the products, if going by hand, in back and forth motions. Not circles. Only use quality Micofiber as well to buff the products to reduce the risk of swirls and scratches. Wash the car before starting the process as well. Again when washing use quality wash mitts and drying towels using the "Two Bucket Method".
In a simple form the "Two Bucket Method" means ahving one bucket with soap and one with water. Dip your mitt in the soap, wash one body panel, dip it in the water bucket to rinse out, and repeate.
