So I've decided I'm going to do AX coming up..

found my local chapter Susquehanna Region SCCA Autocross and talked to some guys and I'm stoked!!!

I have a few questions.. I'm got some mods I want to do to the car, mainly tires and wheels.. so just wondering how many of you run AX on 18x9, 18x10 combos? I was set on getting saleens in 18 staggered fit.. but I'm not opposed to staying with 17s and getting 17 DD rears... if it means better handling for these kinds of events..

I'm super excited.. this is what having a sports car is about driving fast up shifting AND down shifting, and turning the wheel.. :)

Also any idea where I'll be as far as class?Looks like Street Touring STU if I have 10" rears..

from what I've read the mods I have that impact most:
CAI, Cat back, 10" rear wheels, springs, sway bars, 4:10s, caster/cam plates, and the tires.. looking at Falken FK 452 or Hancook Ventus V12 or something similar....

The biggest mod by far is the driver!

Don't worry about your mods at this point, just drive :D

oh yeah completely.. but If it makes sense to stay with 17s vs 18s I'd like to know.. I want the 18s I think for looks, but If I have a reason to stick with 17s I will...

well said jazzer. but if you really wanna get into it. id stay 17s. get yourself a set of 17x9 cobra rs and some faulken rt615s or the hancooks. kuhmo ecsta 710s if you can come up on a set. if i was you id sit down and read the rules haha. youll most likely be in ESP- E street prepared, i would hold off on the subframes for now because there was some debate recently about if they were legal in that class. so short recap:
Read the rules of the classes.
Go out and see what other people are running. take note that most people dont have staggered setups and alot of street parts are junk on racecars.
learn to drive!
but most of all have fun dude. its a great sport and you can really learn alot

Good reason to stay with the 17's is price of tires alone. You'll save neer $400 on a set of 17's compared to 18's.

yeah, I've got 17x9s now but really want 10" rears.. so was thinking FR500 staggered.. it was that or 18 staggered saleens..

I think you're right on the class from what I read (almost everything) I'm E-Prep..

Do Motorcycle helmets work or do I need to have an SA2000/2005?

I noticed on the mvp track group I have to have a roll bar for tracks.. is that the case with all tracks or other AX stuff??
