Has anyone noticed this before?

Alright so I was detailing my car for the first time the other night and noticed something on the back bumper where the trunk comes down. All along the bumper where the trunk closes down are little white scratches, then when i took a look a the trunk itself It was rough to the touch where it closes down to the bumper. I don't exactly slam down hard when closing my trunk

Funny, I just noticed the same thing this weekend. They look like swirl marks straightened out and all in a row. I don't slam the trunk, maybe it comes in contact while the car is moving?
Well at least I'm not alone!! It's very frustrating though now that I've noticed it it's all I see when I close or open my trunk....I'm really curious what's causing it...
Mine has that too.

The bottom edge of the trunk lid is impacting the bumper when the trunk is slammed.

I close mine gently now.
Weird...I dont have that on mine
Mine has it too. I noticed it a few months ago. Doesnt really bother me.

Pics?
ya since I have to post up a pic for my profile later today, i'll post one up of my nice trunk scratches :(
My current mustang doesn't have that problem but my old 2004 had that problem and I was told by ford that the back bumper towards the center will sometimes sagg or warp causing defects in the paint (cracks and discoloration).
Mine has the same thing! I've always thought it was something the boneheads at the dealership did to the car. And I don't think slamming the trunk has anything to do with it. Hmmmmm...

Ya I had thought that too since mine was a demo when I bought it........but it seems that the people who have it have mostly 08' GT's.....hmmmmm:confused:

Kind of an old post, but it's not from you slamming the trunk, it's from highway bumps that cause friction scratches. If you remove the interior panel in fron if your latch in the trunk, there should be 3 little bolts in there holding that latch in place. Loosen then, pull that metal up about an 1/8 of an inch, then retighten. Buff those scratches out and your good to go. Over time that metal just gets pushed down, no matter how gentle you close the trunk. :) hope this helps!
(first post btw)
i'll have to check mine later.
