Orange illumination
Black chassis ground
Blue power antenna
Blue/white amp turn on
Yellow 12v constant power
Orange/black not used
Red 12v switched power
Orange/white dimmer.

Then I have the hu directions which are confusing as hell

Any help Would be appreciated I'm so paranoid about have problems with the wiring.

wire up the harness that plugs into the factory plugs to the harness that plugs into the aftermarket radio color for color. that means yellow to yellow, purple/black to purple/black so and and so forth.

I do not connect the orange, orange/white, or orange/black as they're for the dimmer/interior illumination.

The blue or blue/white from the radio is a remote turn signal wire, also can be used to signal power antennas. Pretty sure the mustang does not have a powered antenna so you could be ok with not connecting it. I connect it anyway.

Make sure you cap the wires that will not be connected. You do not want them shorting out in any way inside the dashboard.

Okay I have 3 wires yellow to yellow blue to blue and red to red. Do I connect the black ones together? And what about all the other wires on the head unit harness are they not used?

Yes, wire the black wires together.

Are your speakers amplified?

Refer to my post where I said to wire all of the colors to the matched wire on the other harness.

It's the stock sound system. I don't think they are.

then take each harness and wire the corresponding colors together.

gray from the radio to gray from the harness that plugs into the factory harness.
gray black to gray black
purple to purple
purple black to purple black.

and do that for the rest of the colors.

What was the factory radio in your car? What harness did you purchase to do the install?
