short headers are about the size of the normal exhaust manifold, and hook right up to the stock length midpipe, they also have mid length headers, and long tube headers, you will see better power with the mid length to long tube headers. shorty headers will sound nice, mid length and long tube will sound better and you will see better power gains, but can run into emmisions violations if applicable, and you will have to get a diffrent, shorter midpipe, plus clutch/tranny changes can be a bit of a bitch, plus changing out the manifolds is a bitch so most people go with the best power gains, but if there is nothing wrong with shorties, everone hates on them though because they dont put out as much power
