I had a question for you detailing guru's.

I've got a TON of 2000 grit sandpaper left over from my Jeep project, and I was wondering:

Do you guys think I would be able to do a headlight restoration with just a 2000 grit wetsand and then a good hand buffing with Meguiars UC?

It's not like they really need it, but they could use a quick touch up and a new surface.

Let me know what y'all think. :)

Yes, it should work if they just need a little touch up. If there is any oxidation or any other contaminates stuck to the lens, youll probably need a grittier sandpaper. But by just wet sanding the lights with 2000 and buffing them out should work great.

i have done this myself. Hit the lights with some 2000 and then polished them with plastic polish. They look pretty damn good too.

I might get some higher grit sandpaper though (maybe even 3000) for the final sandpaper for the lights, just because you can see some faint sanding lines with the lights turned on at night.

I wouldnt worry about that too much, i say go for it!
