Hi, so I have a 2000 Mustang GT 4.6L,
I recently took a 2,600 mi trip in it, but 200mile in I started to get the whining sound, (from the pinion bearing I'm guessing, because all the sound came from the rear, and it hasn't affected the car much. It sounds like a low pitch whine, that is loudest when I'm at around 5-50 mph)
But my question is, with the 2,400 miles I've driven it, will I most likely need to replace the gears also? Or could I get away with just the bearing?
