How do you know if you have a faulty ballast? I just received my new kit the other day and and when I tried them for the first time, the passenger side took a few extra seconds to turn on. Before it turned on, the ballast was just humming and got kind of warm to touch, before it finally came on. Now today, I went to show them to a buddy and the passenger side does not light at all and the ballast makes the same humming sound and gets warm but the headlight doesn't come on at all now. The other ballast has never made any noises or gets warm.

I ordered this kit from: Hidkitlights.com I'm going to call sales and tell them my problem. Hopefully they will send me a new one.

I know there is delay in the light to fully turn on. Usually this delay is short, I would say less than a second, anything more than that is not a good sign. It's either faulty or a cheap brand. The humming is also not a good sign, I would request that they send you a new unit... not matter what they say. Also, before you call, make sure that all your wiring is connected properly and to the right connectors, (nice and tight). Make sure if any, the negative wires are grounded properly.

you can try and switch out the ballast, and see how they react. If you get the same issues as before, then you know for sure that you have a bad ballast.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

I just swapped out the ballasts so now I'm sure it's a bad ballast. I called the company and they said they were sending out a new ballast today. This sucks because this ballast did not last a day! This is "supposed" to be a company with the kits made in Germany and not China. I read online that the German stuff is what you want for quality.

:surprise: Well, **** happens. Maybe you were that 1% of the failures. Who knows.. the good thing is that they are sending out a new one. If they are not requesting for you to send the bad one back to them, I would open it up and see what's inside. You know? Just for curiosity's sake. I don't know what a ballast is comprised of, but if there's a resistor or some type of fuse looking thing, and it looks burned, then perhaps you can switch out and have an extra one for back up.

OR, you can just throw that **** away. HAHAHA. Hopefully this next one works well and for a long time.

I contacted the company today and had to fill out an RMA form, which is subject to approval before a new one is sent! The online chat person says it takes 3-4 days for someone to respond to an RMA request!! Are you kidding me!!!! So I guess I'm supposed to just go with one headlight until they decide if I'm getting a replacement or not plus the 3 days it takes for a new one to ship! I am soooo pissed.

I ordered them from Xenonhids.com but just now realized that's not the company I intended to order from...lol. I am requesting a full refund from them now and going to order from Hidkitlights.com, which is the company with the German parts and not the cheap Chinese junk I incorrectly ordered from.

I've always run VVME without issues. Only car that didn't take was my mother's 200. Something with the way that car was wired would make them conk out every couple days. Also HIDs hum/buzz - it's normal.

Actually, that is not quit true. The kit I have now(after sending the china **** back) does not hum or buzz. This new kit makes no noise at all.

forget the HID kits and go for the LED kits. way better light scatter fixes and no warm up needed. it instant turns on when the switch is flipped and you can get an Oracle kit for around $50 online. I love mine

I already have the new HID kit installed but if this one takes a crap, like the other one, I'll consider LED lights next. Are LED's plug and play also? Where did you buy your kit?
