To answer the question for others, yes. Wiring cruise control will illuminate the music control.
I'm going to be guessing a bit... honestly I try to read back over the tutorial since it has been so long, but... could you have mixed up the audio side buttons and the cruise side buttons? The new harness should not have a green wire for the cruise control side.Sorry for the necro bump but I seem to have issues with the cruise control. It lights up with the headlights so power is there but cruise doesn't work. All the wires are soldered to the proper wires.
I'm thinking it may be my ground loop. On the ground bolt I have 3 wires. I have the green wire eyelet from old connector, the green from the new harness, and there's a black wire with an eyelet from the new harness also. I didn't see this wire on the writeup. Should this be grounded?
Interesting, it is usually the other way around... if you have lights then you obviously have power and ground. At this point that leaves the other two wires, I believe, but could easily be wrong, that blue is illumination and white is signal. Which would mean double check your connection to the white wire (to the gray).Hey! No the green ground was on the audio side. And my stereo controls work perfect so I did that side correctly. Just can't figure out what I did wrong on the cruise side.
