I dont think it is, but i need all your help just so i stop worrying. It only happens what at very low RPM's, (1000). there is a metallic fast ratteling for a split second and then goes away. Nothing all the way up to 5800 RPMs. I have never heard a car that pings, and i just want to make sure that my car isnt doing that. The sound happens all the time. its not every once and a while. And correct me if im wrong, but doesnt pinging usually happen under full throttle and higher in the RPM's for a longer time than a split second? thanks for the help.

pretty sure its not pinging at that low of a rpm, maybe a problem like i had. i had a faulty cam chain tensioner that caused a knock.

Could it be your back fire from riding out a low gear... I know if I am riding a gear too slow down I will get a nice snap, crackle and pop out the back...
