All the stuff off your stock intake (if thats what you have) will work on the GT40.
Well see, theres the confusing part. He called it a GT40.. and the GT40 that i know, and have used.. is a direct swap over on 5.0L mustangs. I wasnt aware the exploror intakes were different... ive never used any. I agree, we should call the intakes off the explorers "Explobra Intakes"The port for the ACT sensor on the #5? runner is not tapped for some of the explobra intakes. The pre 97 intakes do have the ACT hole tapped I think.
A big thing, the 97 and later intakes are not EGR intakes, they do not have an EGR port coming through the upper intake and they will only work if you are getting rid of your EGR stuff at the same time. Basically you want to look for a pre 97 intake.
Also, I am starting my campaign to stop calling these intakes GT-40 since the real GT40 intake is the tubular intake and the name just makes it confusing. Instead let's call these explobra intakes...OK?
those tubular uppers are sooo bad ass...Actually the upper is nothing like the GT-40, if anything it is like the cobra...thus the explobra.
Look a a picture of GT40 tubular with two rows of runners one on top of the other and tell me they are the same and the side by side runners of an explobra or cobra intake. The lowers are different castings as well. The real uppers also weigh about 10 lbs less and have a smaller plenum volume than the explobra.
Not the same, we don't call a cobra intake a GT40, so why would you call an explobra intake a GT40.
+1 This has always confused me too.Not the same, we don't call a cobra intake a GT40, so why would you call an explobra intake a GT40.
