could also be your timing chain guides. they are notorious for going bad. I experience this with a ticking sound coming from my D/S valve cover. checked it was actually coming from the timing chain cover. It would tick/chatter at initial start up for a couple of seconds then at certain speeds and certain gears it would come back. :2cents

yeah, it could be your plugs as mentioned as I know that they are notorious for blowing out.
