Just bought an '00 V6

Hey Everyone,

I am new to the mustang community, and just bought a '00 V6 Coupe 5-Spd with roughly 98,000 miles. The previous owners had all the repair receipts with the vehicle, and she runs pretty good in my opinion. My questions to all of you is, what PM work should I get done right off the bat; or is there anything I should get checked. I just had the oil changed with Semi-Synthetic. The previous owners called it "regular motor oil", when i asked them what type of oil did they use, and the motor sounds nicer after the oil change. I did notice the power steering fluid is a little black, so I am going to get that flushed this week. Like I said I am new to the Mustang and its motor. Any suggestions would help. Thanks Everyone!!

welcome to the board.. and feel free to send me a p.m or aim me if you have any questions
True Duals exhaust
Tuner SCT or Sniper
U.d Pulleys (underdrive pulleys)
3.73's rear end gears with tlok (for 7.5)
nice car there man . those mods up there should gain ya alot.
Thanks Youngin!

El_Cangri, Thanks for the suggestions. I was actually already looking at the Magnaflow Exhaust setup for my car. Thinking about getting the rear section first and then work my way forward (X-Pipes then Headers). Not sure what the "Tuner SCT" is. How much do UD Pulleys help on the V6? As for the gears, I don't think I'm gonna mess with the rear endless I start putting down some more power.
X pipes and magnas will get you a really raspy sound and our V6 are even firing engine so you dont need a X pipe. Get a H pipe for sound.

the SCT tuner well.. it tunes your car so you can get more out of your current mods.. with the stock car you can see 10-20 of h.p increase with just a tune so u could maybe see more since you got a few mods..

gears are a great mod

u.d pulleys free up h.p and your motor will rev faster great mod also
as for your exhaust... the magnaflow will be fine, but you dont need an x-pipe... h-pipe has a better sound for us 6ers. also, when you are buying the x or h-pipe you will need to buy it for either long tube or short tube headers... it would be best to buy the mid-pipe (h or x) and the headers at the same time
or just go to the muffler shop and tell em i want a H pipe with magnas.. and done lol..

easier than buying everything apart

true, but if he want headers he will have to get shorties... unless he wants more custom work to be done to the already custom h-pipe
o well let just give him a nice tip..

do all exhaust at once

haha there we go lol
Have you guys heard any good feed back on the BBk shorty headers? Who makes a good H-Pipe for the V6? I am all about a good clean aggressive exhaust tone.
i have the BBk shortys headers and they are a good high quality header, however the fact that they are shortys mean that you will se only a very small gain on these cars because og the even fiering order. L/T's will give you the best gains
i think i'l get shorties instead of l.ts since i want to go turbo on the future meaning that if i buy l.ts i will lose em..
So, Long Tube Headers and an H-Pipe's are probably my best route for ease of install, and sound quality. Any reccommendations on brands of either product? The L/T Headers should bolt up to the H-Pipe, correct? Or is there a piece that I am missing?
Also,

I think I got a little OT from my original post. I am looking for suggestions on PM (Prevenative Maintenance) works I should do to my newley acquired Mustang. My list so far contains:

Oil Change (Already Done)
Power Steering Flush
Wheel Alignment
Brakes
Coolant Flush

Is there anything else that I should have check or changed? The car has 98,000 miles on, but runs real good.
mac is the only company that makes lt's for our cars. and you will need a shorty h pipe, i know make makes one that will fit. dk if gt shorty mid pipes will work or not.
get mac ceramic coated long tube headers and their short h-pipe
