When I got in it though, all hell broke loose. Floor rusted out where the drivers seat should bolt in in the back, speedo and tach both broken, wiring problems, including one related to the pins in the ECU plug (apparently if I move the ECU it'll fry right now)
Interior is terrible, gonna rip it all out and just burn it. The steering wheel coupler is broken, so the steering wheel is WAY too loose. Got a few minor surface rust spots on the body.
Got it and it was airlocked, no coolant in the radiator or anything, and the intercooler had popped off creating a huge boost leak. Got it running better now, spent the day banging through the gears. Really enjoy the turbo motor so far, just wish the rest of the car worked.
Oh, and the heater core is bypassed so I have no heat in it. No good when you're living in it. Gonna have to try to find some hoses to make it work, apparently no part stores have a part number around here. Any ideas as to a part number?
Rock Auto has heater cores for $35 and they will ship to you super fast. Overall the new car looks pretty good, I like it. I'm sure you can use a lot of parts off of your old car to make this one into something decent. Don't drive it like a moron this time, you can't afford to. If you promise to take good care of this one, I may send 1 or 2 parts your way, so don't mess it up.
In the rain, at night, had never been down that road before so I had no idea it was coming until it was too late.
I only have a few bucks in the bank for that hose. May just make my own, don't exectly have a place of my own to ship to anyway. Does it matter which way the heater lines go into the firewall? And hopefully the heater core is still good. If not I'll have to pull it out of the '93, I plan on swapping the dashes anyway.
And yes, those are a set of the ever-so-elusive 4 lug BBS Pininfarina wheels.
I thought so, figured as long as the hot coolant went through it didn't matter. Yeah, I had always thought about putting snowflakes on mine, just an added bonus that this came with 'em lol. Cleanest part of the whole damn car though.
I've been hanging out with friends to keep me from going insane sitting in my car all the time, but I don't know people old enough to have their own places with spare rooms to stay the night with. And yeah, it was one hell of a turn and caught me off guard. Going back down there the next time I took that turn at like 2mph.
Back in Baltimore? I never left lol. And I'm not really a military kind of guy. As far as money, yes. Not having to spend anything for a few years sounds nice though.
So I found out why the engine was airlocked when I got it. Hole in the radiator that you can only see when it's hot and pressurized, and THEN it decides to dump coolant. So I pulled my radiator out of the '93 parts beast and slapped that in tonight, we'll see how that turns out tomorrow I guess. Tomorrows projects is going to be doors and hoses to the heater core, and see if the heater core leaks or anything retarded. Heat would be nice and the door pins and paint are better on my doors, and the mirrors have been repainted and are power and work and all.
Hey guys im looking to build a 2.3 for a race car, most motors ive found are fuel injected 2.3s, can i take the 8 plug head off, switch it with 4 plug from an older model and run carburetor and do away with all computer and stuff,
Been researching engine swaps for my 1957 Austin Healey 100-6. Thinking about a 2.3 turbo with a T-5 transmission.
Lots to digest. Use an 87-88 Thunderbird 2.3 Turbo, Mustang SVO, Ranger roller rockers, Duratec etc??. Can anyone point me in a direction? What is the best combination of engine...
Well this is a shot in the dark since this section is pretty dead, but hopefully there's one or two lurkers out there that could help.
Basically I still have my 88 2.3 LX for shits and giggles. I've got some parts laying around the garage and I'm curious what I can do, especially in regards to...
I have a Ranger 2.5 intake. Motor is stock. Aside from UDP headers and exhaust and 17lb Bosch injectors. Has an SVO 5spd swap and 3.73 gears. I'd like to have it ported before installing it and half shaft the TB. In the future i would like to step up to a 2.5 ported head as well. Question is do...
I really hate having to swing my leg under the wheel when I get in . Wife doesn't mind but I do . Especially if making frequent stops . If I get a column from a 5spd car will I have a problem with not having the A/T lock out ? I drove around with an automatic column on my 5spd Jeep for years...
