I have a 2003 Mustang GT Convertible with factory installed Mach 460 sound system that has recently developed sound interference which imitates the engine speed and comes in a high wining sound through the rear speakers. Does not occur when the two amplifiers are disconnected and is not the amplifiers since I tested replacements with the same result.

Any suggestions?

Maybe one of the wires are grounding out or making contact with another wire. Extra voltage being sent to the fuel pump or other things for higher rpms could in fact make the interference go higher in pitch if thats what you mean. But you might want to remove everything and trace the wires from the amps all the way to the fuze box or the back of your stereo
