can anybody tell me my max mph in 3rd with a 27" tire and a stock 3650 trans. 04 gt. 4.10 gear. revving to 6200.

i know shaun is good with this but i couldn't find anything helpful. thanks

I'm getting 92 mph. 3rd gear ratio should be 1.31:1


engine rpm (6200)/1.31=4732.8244/4.1=1154.3474 axle rotations/minute

27 inch tire 27x3.14 = 84.78" circumference

1154.3474 x 84.78 = 97867.827 inches/minute /12= 8155.6522 feet /min x 60 = 489339.13 feet/ hour /5280 = 92.677865 miles/hour

I'm switching down to 3.27 gearing when i get boost

What about 3.73's, 26in tire, max RPM 6,600rpms, 04GT with a TR3650.... I guessing about 99mph or so?
That would be about 103mph


mrbigjeep it would be about 92mph.

I am fully aware that people have said they run 130 mph in 3rd witn 4.10son stock tires. OK. Let's move on to the real calculations. The link below calculates based upon the parameters given it. It is absolutely accurate for my car.

If this is just to see what you car will max out at in 3rd gear, this is all correct calculations as far I could tell following along with the math. If you want to know about the 1/8 mile, u would just have to run it to see. To many variables with traction, hp/tq curves and such. I could get into third about 200-250ft before the line and was no where near done pulling. If I run all out to 7k with 3.90's and a 26" tire I can get to about 100-102ish mph.

Only way your going to hit 130mph with 4.10s on stock tires is revving the piss out of the motor to about 7200rpm.

I don't think you could hit 130mph in 3rd with 4.10's. Fourth maybe if you rev it out high. I do it in fourth with 3.90's, but not third.

I have a 26" tall tired and stock gears on a 02 gt with 3650 and I finish the 1/4 mile in 3rd at 107-110 mph at about 6200 Rpms gotta get my gears in badly

I may have exaggerated a bit to emphasize a point. :D Ofter people post a speed without pointing out that they are spinning the motor way into the red.

On a side note, I do remember a thread a couple of years ago where a guy was shifting his stock shortblock at 7000 rpms. He didn't understand why it started knocking on the way home from the track.

The difference between this calculation and the one in the table is that a 27" tire with weight on it is not perfectly round anymore. Because of that it will not cover the same distance as a perfectly round circle per revolution. While the correction percentage differs from tire to tire, the table uses .97 to correct the formula to a loaded tire. That correction appears to work well because it brings down the revolutions per mile for a stock size tire down to 810 which is what tuners use to for speedometer corrections.

Lol agreed Tom. Although, these motors can rev. The GT motors stock can rev to 6500rpm. Theres just no point because the heads and cams wont breathe enough up top. But with a centri blower, its fine. I shift at 6300rpm. And by then Im barley making 10psi. Its kind of pathetic. Its my intercooler, but I just dont feel like getting a new one, then a new pulley, a new belt, and a re-tune. Its like a $500 ordeal for almost nothing.
