So... my ISP is a localy owned and operated business. Seems they have started blocking adult themed websites.

To me... this is 100% wrong. I pay for this service, I should be able to access what websites I wish.

Anyone else think this is completely stupid? They gave no notice of starting this "OpenDNS" program or anything.

Its using OpenDNS... im searching on how to overcome it atm. Nothing good so far.

I kinda want to confront the admin, but at the same time its like saying "Why did you block my porn?" and I rather not Lol.

If I can find some other kind of website it blocks then I will have ammunition.

Porn or not you should be able to browse the web. Not what they seem to think you should be able to see.

Id sue them for blocking porn

There is a local outfit here in town called CAS cable. They block porn websites and won't even allow customers to subscribe to HBO, cinemax, or showtime. Also no adult PPV

You PAY for a service. That service is to provide access to the internet. It is not for them to decide on a content that 100% legal. Demand a refund!

**** them! I hate that kind of stuff. Dont impose your morals on me!

Whats the name of the company so I can be sure never to use them?

I'd be bitchin like a madman Zat! Call and let into them!!!!!!!!

Um, OpenDNS isn't a filter. It's a DNS server. All it does is translate hostnames to IP addresses.

Do you have access to a shell on your system, or it lame windows crap? If you have a shell, you can try to resolve the hostnames you're hitting, dnslookup/dig, traceroutes, etc.

OpenDNS is a filter.

OpenDNS Website, check out the first bullet under Rock-Solid Security.

As for pressing charges them. Read your contract, if they have a clause in there that says they can filter your content, find another ISP. If they don't take them to court or threaten to.

They "might" not have proxy's blocked. So you if you use a free proxy it might work for a while. Though if they're smart admins, they'll notice someone is using a proxy and just block it.

As for getting around it, I'd say good luck.
