So heres the short version of the whole story
Throwout bearing started to go, had to take emergency leave to go home, blew my clutch on the way. Had the clutch, pressure plate, TOB, etc etc replaced.
1200 miles later, somewhere in the middle of ohio, my transmission starts grinding, AAMCO said i didnt have fluid, effed up the whole tranny, clutch was shot, and all that. so paid right around 3500 to get all that fixed, finally got it fixed friday, (7 months later)
So I drove it back to base, about a 300 miles drive, now
1. First gear grinds, every time, however once you grind the gears, if you dont let off the clutch, itll go in without grinding (as long as u dont let of the clutch)
2. Pretty sure i'm hearing my clutch "chatter"
Ideas?

$3,500 could have got you a fully built trans! Are you beating on it or plan to? If so just get a kit or a new trans here ProMotion Powertrain FORD/GM Performance Manual Drivetrain Specialist FL or get a used one and junk the one you have. Another place in FL does good stuff with the T3650 but I forgot who they are.

The 3650 needs better syncros and Im going to need a rebuild soon too but Im looking at if I can get a 05+ trans with upgraded bits and just by a used one and be done with it.

Well, I paid 2700 for the trans rebuild, 200 for a new clutch, and the rest 600 for the clutch labor, and exhaust work.
I knew i was getting screwed, but I didnt have a choice, hey very well could have charged me 7 months in storage fees, and i was 300 miles away from my car, he kinda had me by the balls.

Sucks. Sounds like the rebuild didn't go so well... If completely replacing it is out of the question (even though it could cost significantly less than a rebuild (Built T45's can be found for under $2k)), bring it to a truly reputable transmission shop and see what they think. Sounds like the 1st gear synchro is shot. Serious grinding never sounds cheap.

Well, I got it rebuilt a AAMCO in bum F*** Ohio. so luckily I got a warentee for the transmission, so it'll be at the shop tomorrow (luckily, this time its not gonna be 300 miles away, its gonna be down the street :) )... and im sure their gonna say "you abused it.. your 20... you definitely abused it... voided your warentee" and thats when I pull out the whole Military, and a volly fire fighter, and a emt card. i'm not your everyday 20yro.. and if that still doesn't I know some purty good lawyers :).

damn bro that sucks, like posted above I would buy either a used oem trans with low miles, or new, and have some backyard mechanic replace it for you if you dont have the time and place to do it your self.

Hey now, us Ohio residents don't like the obvious stated in public

Man that seems really steep for the tranny rebuild, mind telling us where the shop was? I will avoid it at all costs. Did you have no way of getting the car and why did it sit for 7 months? I'm guessing that had something to do with the military.

I mean one were to buy a 3650 from an 05 gt could the shifter be switched out, etc etc. So that it would match up to my 02 gt?

The Shop was a AAMCO in Beaver Creek OH, off US 35.

My credit was maxed, and couldn't get any loans/credit cards, and i've had to go home for family emergency 4 times from November to Feb., rental cars, gas, plane tickets, aint cheap, and family is a lot more important than my car.

Took it to a AAMCO down the street today, 1st gear grinding and bearing noise :/ ,they said its covered under warentee, and helped me out a lot.

And I thought I had a hard time with my TR3650 due to what was probably a bent shift fork, giving me no use of 2nd gear. 2,700 is dumb for a rebuild. Go for a T56 and don't look back.

What did you spend on your t56?

Bought it from C MY 4D on here for $2,000 + my broken TR3650 + $150 for install done by him + I think like another $34 for a U joint to combine a Cobra driveshaft with a GT rear. Then more small stuff like a pilot bearing, 4 quarts of RP Synchromax.

So basically $2,200 for everything plus my stock flywheel, clutch, broken TR3650, driveshaft. He told me he's going to rebuild it and sell it off as a complete swap.

BTW, that included a Cobra driveshaft, Fidanza flywheel, Cobra driveshaft, Steeda Tri Ax, Centerforce clutch, plus it has a 26 spline input. It was a lot of damn money to put out at once and left me nearly broke, but it was worth it.

That's why I said $2,700 is dumb for a rebuild on a TR3650. There are similar deals all the time for complete T56 swaps. At least I recouped fast, have about $2,300 saved now, probably $300+ of which is going to new tires this morning if roadside assistance won't cover me. I'll refrain from saying the N word on here since I do not want to be banned, but one or two of them slashed my rears.

Called the state police and reported it just to have it documented, but they can't do anything at all without proof or an admission, which I already knew. They did however tell me that if I catch him on my property, I can pretty much legally do anything besides murder him to be able to hold him there until they arrive. But, strictly if he's found on my property. :lol

lot.
No offense taken, I'm not a huge fan of living in the armpit of America.
Those scumbags. Beavercreek is literally 10 minutes from me, and its supposed to be a fairly nice part of Dayton, AAMCO has a decent reputation I thought? I'm glad to hear its all working out, and if you get stuck anywhere near Dayton let me know, I'd be glad to help out.

Also, way to keep your priorities straight. Good reminder for all of us.

It wasn't to bad of an area, and the owner definitely knew his stuff, but I just feel like I got taken advantage of, because I'm not from the area, knew nobody from the area, thereforth couldn't really affect his local reputation. And he knew he had me balls the balls, so he squeezed, no military discount (I dont ask for it, nor do i think i deserve it, but every other shop including other AAMCO's I have ever went to, has given me 10%) , said a new trans would cost thousands more, used trans arnt worth it.

if you get stuck anywhere near Dayton let me know, I'd be glad to help out.
Thanks bud, it means a lot. If I drive thru there again, i'll let you know, maybe a race down US 35? lol j/k

Got a call from the AAMCO down the street that my car is at now, looks like everything is gonna work out. I'll keep yall updated.
