Hey guys,

Well instead of supercharging my 00 GT i found what i think its a barn car, its a 1971 351w fastback mustang Vin number 1F05H this little puppy needs some love owner died 2 years ago and since then car has just been sitting there and now the widow needs some money I am goin to grab it for probably 3,500 USD dollars, she needs interiors and paint, don't know engine because we didnt fired it up, starter was broken and had no battery but according to neighbors 2 years ago she ran great.

My question is for that car is that a fair price cheap expensive???? let me post some pics, sorry for the pics but ran out of juice on my cell phone, car doesnt seem to have rust I will check underneath floor mats.

I would go directly to engine if someone could help me, right now I have seen this at summit racing supposedly they live car in the 400hp range is that true?

Edelbrock 2092 - Edelbrock Power Package Top-End Kits
Edelbrock 2060 - Edelbrock Power Package Top-End Kits
Edelbrock 2090 - Edelbrock Power Package Top-End Kits

I also want to put some forged internal to have some nitrous shot 150 o 200 maybe.

on engine probably my budget is 4,000-5,000 dollars.

What do you guys think

3,500 is a good price for the car. Especially if the body is all solid and you only need a battery and starter to get the car running.

I'm not sure what you're asking as far as the top end kits. Are you trying to reach 400 HP on motor? If that's your goal forged internals aren't really needed.

hey TC thanks for the reply i am going to go pick up car tomorrow and send it directly to mechanics to fire it up, as to reaching 400 or 500hp what can i do ? the top end kits this is the info:

RPM For 351W S/B Ford (1969-95) - 443 hp & 424 ft-lbs. (A)
with hydraulic roller cam and E-CNC heads Performance results obtained on a 351W Ford short block with 9.5:1 compression.

That looks like a great deal. You might want to learn to work on it yourself otherwise you will run into lots of bills from mechanics. I would focus on getting the car running and driveable before building the engine up for power, unless of course the engine is toast.

Read through this thread they discuss what it takes to get a 351 to different power levels. Your goal is easily obtainable though with the correct Head, cam, intake combo.

thanks buddy ill do.

Tomorrow we are going to pick up the car and take it to mechanic to change fluids and see if engine runs if not will start from there, and also buy some tires lol cuz they are flat plus redo interiors which here in Mexico is about 1k for leather.

yup totally agree with you, but i feel like a little kid with new toy, first step getting it run by itself after that resto starts.

Thats awesome you got the engine to fire up. I reccomend getting some rags and wiping everything down and cleaning it off so you can easily check for leaks.

What are your plans for the brakes?

I strongly suggest going to this site for whatever information you need for the car. It's by far the best site for 71-73 mustangs. Here it is: 7173MUSTANGS.com Good luck with your project!!
