Ok gentlemen, this is where I stand. My 2002 GT currently has a bad guide seal. A small plume of smoke exits exhaust once it is operating temperature. A local shop is charging me about $1200.00 parts and labor in removing them, machine shop, new timing chains..etc. It is a trusted mechanic but I am thinking about buying the factory replacement Ford Racing heads available at late model resto (399.99 each) and doing the work myself. New heads, timing set, gaskets...etc. vs. mechanic, machine shop, same heads and cams...etc. My car had 149k. Im leaning toward the new assembled heads..not really looking to massive performance comments since that is not my interest at this time. Thanks in advance for your suggestions...
