Does increasing the f-stop increase the time that the shutter is open? It seems like when I try to take a shot, the lowest I can go is F5.6 :eek is that right? if I take it up to f13, I have to put it on a tripod and pray that the object stays still, which my cat never will lol

Edit, I found it. I guess Av is not a good mode to shoot something that has the potential of moving :lol




Still in manual mode, the lowest my aperture will go is 5.6.

Yup...nice lens will net you a lower aperture.

I mainly shoot in Tv mode using my Canon Rebel XTi with a wide angle zoom lens.
