I have a noise and vibration which as near as I can tell sounds like it might be coming from the rear ( hard to tell for sure either the exhaust). While looking under the car I happened to notice a support or dampener (see attached pictures), which even though the bolts are tight I can / push up and down about and inch and wiggle it front to back. My questions are:
1. What is this part?
2. Is it supposed to move the way it does?
3. Can it be responsible for a noise and vibration while driving?

i believe that is a vibration dampner for your driveline. I never had one nor was i aware that any new edges came with one. Take is off and go for a test drive, best way to determine if thats making your noise.

Thanks,
I removed it today. Bushings are shot, apparently it’s a dampener installed buy Ford, but only works if running stock gearing. Since I’ve upgraded to 3.73 gears a while ago I just took it off. Still have some vibration but the rattling / noise from the rear is. Pretty much gone.
Going to try replacing the u-joints to see how that does.
