Piece of something?

Alright so I dropped a socket in the oil pan so I had to drop the pan, woke up this morning and decided to clean the inside of the pan out with some paper towels and then I found an aluminum (I'm assuming since the magnet won't pick it up) piece in there. I was wondering if anybody knows what this piece could be. it has a lip on the outer edge and some rigid lines on the outside of it from what I can tell... I haven't messed with any of the internal parts of the engine but have put new heads on and cams and all and didn't see any damage from the top of the pistons

Well, could it be a piece of a connecting rod? or the bottom piece of the piston? D==Ɵ
thats generally not a good sign...was your engine making any noise? how'd you drop a socket in the oil pan?
Not good..
not sure what that could be but i would assume its not to good... any weird noises
that almost looks like a piece of one of the tensioner guides but it could be anything. if someone installed your cams maybe they just accidentally dropped something in there.
does your motor make any wierd sound running?

did you replace your timing components when you did your cams and heads? If you used your old ones did you check the guide rails, chains, etc?
it looks to me like it a piece from one of the timing chain guides where the bolt passes through it i bet it is that take off your TC cover and then verify it
I agree with it being part of the guides. the grooves eliminate a piston skirt and the lip is consistant with guide shape
