Thanks for any help in advance,
My mustang:
2007 v6 SOHC 4.0 mustang

The problem:
I’ve been in the process of replacing the head gasket and am at the point of putting the head back on on the left side of the engine, I’m trying to get the sprocket and timing chain back onto the camshaft but for some reason the timing chain is acting like it’s too short so the sprocket is about an inch to an inch and a half too low to fit the sprocket bolt into the camshaft, the hydraulic tensioner is out also. I can only think of two reasons why, either the chain somehow got kinked at the crankshaft or there’s a second tensioner lower down that I’m unaware of. Also the crankshaft has been set at TDC and held in place by the tool and the new camshaft is in the same place the old one was, was having the same issue with the old camshaft and ended up breaking the sprocket bolt in it. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. 🙂
