My 3rd gear redlines at about 110mph with 3:73s. Ive thought of going with 4:10s but the 3:73s have treated me well with my Procharger setup.

Use these calculator to determine your top speed in each gear. Top speed in fifth is limited by horsepower not gear ratio. It is possible to increase your top speed in fifth by going down in gear ratio. Automatics have a problem with WOT in Overdrive. It is not recommended because they get stuck between 3rd and 4th. I believe that 3.73s are plenty if you're running a ProCharger expecially if you have a T-45 transmission with a .67:1 fifth.

Ive gone 150mph+ with my 3:73s so I dont think you need much more top end than that

Matt, I originally though you were talking about an automatic then I looked at your garage. With 3.73s and stock size tires, in 2nd gear 60 mph is approx. 6000 rpms. In 4th gear 60 mph is approx. 3000 rpms. 3rd is roughly 1/2 between the two. 60 mph at 4500 rpms. In order to go 110 mph in third you would have to tach around 8000 rpms. Sorry but there isn't any possible way you're running 110 mph in third with 3.73s unless you are running 28" tires and taching 6500 rpms.

Edit: I crossed the finish line in fourth at 111 mph on my car, that's just below redline around 5550 rpms.

i have 4:10's with 26" tires and a stock 3650 five speed. Just came from the track and I'm going through the traps at 115 at over 6k in fourth. First gear comes and goes so quick there's barely time to blink before having to shift in to 2nd. I'm actually thinking of going down to 3:73's for better overall drivability. Most of the guys I went to the strip with (late model GTO's and Dodge chargers) all NA but with automatics had very low gears (3:08 through 3:55) and they were actually beating me through the 1/8 mile, but I caught them at the tail end. They are turning around 13 flat and I was high twelves as wven with Nitto 555r's in a 315 size traction is still a bitch with the 4:10s.

Yea I know how you like all your # formulas and stuff. But Im red lining 3rd at 6k and shifting into 4th right as Im crossing the traps and its been that way for all the 100+ passes Ive had in my car. So no need to edit my post for me

Are you sure you have 3.73 gears? Even stock 3.27s are only running around 103 mph in third at 6000 rpms. With 3.73s at 6000 rpms I'm at 90 mph. And, if you read the other posts, it appears everone else is about the same.

No that's not necessary. It's just unusual. At 2000 rpm in third what is your speed?

With my 3.73's I top out at 96-98 in 3rd. So ten or some more MPH is plausible.
