If you still have the stock or old struts/shocks, even a cheap pair of non adjustable shocks/struts and replacement strut bushings will seem amazing compared to the old worn ones and can be had for $250. Another thing I would do before control arms or bushings is check over your inner/outer tie rods and ball joints. The combination of those being old can make the car sloppy.
