ok so im driving my brother in law's '06 Mustang V6 while i get my car fixed, the car was parked for about 2 1/2 months and battery died. Now i filled up the tank (until nozzle clicked) and the gauge is still a little above empty and its giving me the "0 Miles to Empty" message. What could be the issue?

dumb question.... was the car off while you were refueling?

Yes it was off, it's been probably used maybe 30 miles since fill up. Check engine light came on with P0171 code. It has a CAI which has been installed for a while.
