Damn she dirty.

You need to post in this thread more so I can be satisfied with seeing a build of a GT500 until I get one.
Once it gets out of the paint shop, your usual dose of GT500 porn shall resume. I'll clean it up, put my Corbeaus in, probably get the wheels powdercoated, take some pretty pics, then it'll be off to the shop to get the TR6060 built. Don't know what will come after that gets done but I'm sure I'll find something to put money towards on this thing. :dunno

Just putting up with this garbage setup from Ridetech until my new digital Air Ride bag setup gets here.

Anyway, dropped by the paint shop today. Car is at least a week out from paint, two weeks out from having it back. They hadn't done much since I stopped by a week ago and posted the pics on the last page of this thread. They'd pulled the front bumper off, cut and installed the super sexy Aerocatch hood pins into the new hood, and had the hood being prepped. I did drop off a pair of new factory Shelby letters (one to replace originals on trunk and the other to possibly put on the hood like the GT500 KRs and Supersnakes. Undecided on the latter.), the template from JLT to center the new letters across the trunk under the 3rd brake light, and the satin silver lower grille bezels for the front bumper. One of these days I'll have the car back. :(

Was reading more builds over on svtp. Anyways, the mod order is a little different than on the 3v/coyotes.

Should long tubes be one of the last mods done with the 07-09 gt500s? I know you personally put them on last.

---------- Post added at 07:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:12 PM ----------

I was thinking my first round of mods for whenever I get a gt500 will be:

Intake, pulley, tune, o/r x and a h/e.

It hasn't spent much time in the garage. Been in and out of shops for the last few months. **** happens. Once it stops giving me issues, I'll drive it more. Only part that sucks is that it is absolutely beautiful in TX right now and by the time the car is done, I'll have missed most of it. Won't be long before it breaks 100 degrees here in Houston again. :(

That's a pretty good setup. You should definitely throw LCAs in there too though.

Long tubes can be done whenever. I didn't plan on doing them for a very long time, was forced to because my car broke 20lbs of boost on the dyno with factory manifolds. They definitely qualify as a necessary mod for high horsepower GT500s. If you plan on sticking with the basic stuff like pulley/intake/tune/suspension, then they're far less important.

I had those two on my phone from when I was installing things. It hasn't changed much other than the headers down below and removing the aux tensioner. I've got a sexy Trueforged coolant tank laying around that I'll install sometime as well. I need to buy the matching second tank from them and get the powdercoating done to match.

Looks great.

I have an idea what I want to do with mine. If I dont get a black car I am going to powder coat the blower to match the color of the body. Then get the black powdercoat Moroso tanks. I love the big 2-n-1 that Moroso has.

It's the Moroso "the tank"

**** that, get Trueforged. You can get custom paint, engraving, powdercoating, windowed caps, whatever you want. Better looks, quality, and customer service. You can get two separate tanks or the one large one from TF. I personally prefer the two separate tanks because no matter how they're designed, there is going to be unnecessary heat transfer between the two.

You gonna powder coat your valve covers?
Absolutely. Already decided how I want them done too.

Obviously not mine but I saw them somewhere and fell in love. Mine will match those exactly.

I'll have to check out the TF tanks. I am not gonna lie, their website is kinda off putting lol

And the valve colors look sweet.
Haha, their website is kinda ghetto. Try to contact them through SVTP if you've got an account. They're super friendly on there (some of the only ones LOL). I think the main contact guy's username is [email protected] They're $$$$ though.

You gonna go for the high flow elbow? I liked the idea of it until I read you had to port the blower a little. Looked like **** to me lol.

Also what was your duty cycle with the 72lb injectors? Can't remember if I asked you already lol.

Yeah, I'm in love with those valve covers. The TF is superior though. Better quality, customer service, looks, can get custom paint or powdercoat or engraving or whatever you want. Can even get clear tank caps because when the GT500 pumps start failing like Termis, we're all going to need them. The price is well worth it for any Trueforged product.

TF's website is garbage. Has been for as long as I've known Steve. I give him **** about it all the time. Supposedly, he's working on a new one now. Anyway, SVTP and Facebook are the best places to get a hold of him.

I have no reason to port anything. Or go to a Gen 2 VMP blower housing. I make more than enough power to keep me entertained and I don't want to push a stock engine any more than I already am. When it comes time for more power, there will be a built engine getting two turbos strapped to it. If I max the Gen 1 out with that setup, I'll sell it and pick up a 2.9L or larger Whipple.

Don't know what the duty cycle was, didn't pay any attention to it. Between the injectors, the BAP, and the badass factory GT500 pumps, I shouldn't have been pushing my fuel system too hard.

Did your VMP pulley bolt right up or did you have to get that 6 bolt hub thingy?
Bolted right up, no problems what so ever. I think I've got a 2.6" VMP pulley still laying around if you hurry up and get a GT500 :lol

Lmao it wouldnt be till at least 2017 sadly. Priorities (the lame ones)

---------- Post added at 09:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:57 PM ----------

By then the 2017 whatever will be out. I am not too worried about the car being 10 years old at that point. It is still a newer car, a shelby, and can sit pretty at 700rwhp all day.

That is all the justifying I need. Plus I like the 07/09 models more than the newer ones and it wouldnt be a daily.

---------- Post added at 10:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:59 PM ----------

I do however hope I can find a low mileage one even though itll be around 10 years old.
