were is the cheapest place i can get a t-lock and 4.10 gears for my 7.5
do your self a favor and don't dump money in the 7.5...... find a 8.8 and summit sells frpp for a good price.

Doesn't look like hes making gobs of power. Maybe he just wants gears and a new tlok?!!?!?

because I have busted a few of them..... wheel hop will kill them at around 200 hp. I blew one up in my 85 broke 14 teeth off the ring sheared the pinion and broke a main cap. due to wheel hop shifting into second. I've never broke a 8.8.

were can i get the detroit tru trac and 4.10s for a decent price


and do you have any idea what a shop would charge 2 put them in ??

I charge $200 for just gears $300 for a complete rebuild. If you get a shop to do it expect a little more.

Shop here charges 190 for install if you bring your own parts;p

all the shops here its 200 for gears and t-lok if you bring your own bearing kit and fluid 270 for install where they supply bearings and fluid

so considering we are in different areas we are pretty close in price.

yeah if you are providing the stuff they dont have but just bringing everything and having it put in labor is only 200

labor rates here are $115/hr

a stock 8.8 is about as trust worthy as 7.5 with t-lok
and a bad t-lok if the 7.5 has a eaton the or auburn posi then i'd rather be on the 7.5 almost

a buddy of mine blew his stock 8.8
his setup:
V6
boltons
windstar intake
70shot
8.8 and slicks pulling 13.0 at 105mph

i broke my **** at 13.1 lol so

the 7.5 is FINE for any bolt on application even h/c/i you'll be fine

if you need to upgrade to an 8.8 then you need 31spline

S197 has 7.5 too, right?

Also, what is wheel hop? Is that where the tires chirp when you shift?

wheel hop is literally what it sounds like your rear wheels hopping while you burn out or take off forcfully such as a race and the wheels spin a little

its from shitty suspension

Oh, my '97 F-150 used to do that, and my brother-in-law's S-10 did it as well.

I eventually snapped my drive-shaft right off my rear differential when I tried to burn out one day.
