Why do web site's say I can not put a 2005-08.5 4.6L 3v engine in my 2009 Mustang GT? Well they don't really say that, reads Not Compatible.
Been searching for a used replacement 4.6l 3v for my Mustang, but everywhere I look says No Fit. ???
What is the difference with the 09-10 and 05-8.5?

Any help appreciated, Thanks' in advance.

The '05-'08 long block engines are pretty much the same and will go straight in. However you'll need to reuse your '09 intake manifold plus '09 accessories (including the coolant crossover) and if the replacement engine was built before the end of November 2007, you'll need the earlier style spark plugs and black COPs.

Thanks' for the reply, Did thy ever make a repair fix for the old style heads? Would my heads off the 09 fit on the earlier style engine?

There's nothing actually wrong with the '05-'07 heads. It's the plugs that are the problem. You could indeed bolt your existing '09 heads onto an '05-'07 short block and this would allow you to retain your existing plugs and coils.
