OK so I talked to a buddy that has and has had a ton of mustangs. He told me to buy the intake but not the heads. He said I needed afr 185s. He said for the money I would be disappointed with the 165s. That they weren't much bigger than the stockers I have now

You're buddy is half right. The heads are night and day compared to stock heads. 185's will require a simple piston notch and won't just bolt on without modification or different pistons if yours are stock.

Couldn't he just put a thicker headgasket on with those ?

With those heads and intake probably between 230 and 280 rwhp depending on the CR those pistons give you. And whether you are stick or aod

And I would figure out what the +/- CC is on those pistons. That will effect your build alot

If you can score those heads and intake for 800-900 combined it wouldn't be bad. And if you are a stick and those pistons are truely flat tops I bet you will make closer to 280. They are still gonna be way better than stockers
