We all know we wanna go fast!! I know do!!! However, we sometimes forget the need to STOP! I "recently" built a stout 410w for my DD/Road course rig but it still has the puny stock brakes. A few years ago, this "hybrid-brake-setup" surfaced on SN95Forums. It worked well for the owner but he couldn't get anyone to replicate the required adaptor brackets. That's when Fully Torqued Racing (henceforth referred to as FTR) approached me with an offer to help create such brackets. The owner/operator, Pete developed a prototype bracket, did some CNC voodoo and here's what we have:

Pretty cool looking but does it work? Well, we have worked out a deal with BTM Autosport (henceforth referred to as BTM) to install this setup on their successful SCCA Solo Roush Stage II* to "test the snot out of them".

The kit was developed using FTR '96 GT road race project:



It will also be installed on my '95 GT for street testing, well, whenever I put it back together LOL



This setup seemingly works best with a hydroboost setup or Cobra MC but I'm gonna see if it works with my GT unit. Also, it doesn't work with 17" wheels. We will do our best to test fit as many different wheels as possible to ensure proper fitment.

Interesting...I've been wondering what it would take to put some S197 Brembos on a SN95 too. I may have to come check out what you got one day lol

Interesting...I've been wondering what it would take to put some S197 Brembos on a SN95 too. I may have to come check out what you got one day lol
I'll let you know when I get it installed. Right now it's still in the preliminary testing phase on the west coast.

This is cool. I love this kind of engineering and adapting
All the initial R&D was done by Pete @ FTR. He has been a most valuable asset and partner in this endeavor.

Glad to be a part of this. This is just the first step to bigger and better things from FTR when it comes to SN95 products. There is also a full bolt-in watts link in development and I'm pushing for a GT500 brake kit for the SN95 as well.

Yesterday was a fun day, finally got to see this come to fruition! Brett (aka @iRoush ) from BTM Autosport got the brakes installed and went out and tested them.

Here's what he texted me after he came back from a test drive:

holy donkey f*ck this thing can stop

engaged abs on the Hoosiers like it was nothing.

Driving it to work tomorrow. I'm in love with the brakes!
Once he got over the initial excitement he sent this:

So first impressions: Once the pads bedded, the brakes became remarkably touchy and responsive, much more than the cobras ever were. When heated by multiple pedal to the floor stops, no brake fade was experienced and abs engaged almost immediately and the car stopped harder (sent me forward even in the harnesses) than it ever did before. Pad wear seems to be spot on, on the rotor. There caliper alignment is still as it should be, no dragging brakes, only problem was the dust shield touch the rotor which technically has become useless since the rotor is larger than the shield.

All in all, these brakes have my respect performance-wise. Upgrading to these would and should be the end all be all upgrade for all fox/sn95's both street and track.

am I save to assume you will need 18" wheels to clear this brake upgrade

Yeah, I think the S197 calipers are larger so there's still quite a bit of added stopping power. I was just looking at the unused portion of the rotor is all.

gotcha. yeah it would look better if it filled it up
True, the stock S197 caliper does not fill the whole rotor. However you still get the benefits of 1) larger piston/pad area than stock 2) more leverage (braking power) 3) heat dissipation. The 14" rotor has much more surface area to dissipate heat and and its more well ventilated than stock.

Our 14" brembo kit we're developing right now will however fill up the whole rotor ;)
