A friend of a friend has asked me to help him install a second battery in his truck. He wants it so that it can power a compressor for his air horn. Do you guys recommend going ahead and adding a second battery in parallel with an isolator or going ahead and upgrading the alternator. From what I've read an upgraded alternator would be better but since I don't have much experience with this I thought it would be better to ask.

If you all are going there, it'd be worth it to install a second alternator that would power said battery. Friend of mine has one hell of a system in his truck that is completely independent of all other electrical functions on the vehicle. Hi-Po alternator and 2 batteries power the damn thing.

Hmm, thanks a lot for the info. I'll tell him what you guys said but he probably will still want the second battery and stock alternator. His car though...
