I only get 10-15 mph out of first gear until it reaches 3000 rpm and time to shift.
Great torque but cant get much speed out of first before having to shift.
Does this sound like a car with higher gears or is it tranny or clutch related.

Well I know gears are a good thing
but then again for everyday driving
seems like im putting stress on the engine because its topping
out so quickly in lower gears.Cant get much distant out of the lower gears
before I have to shift.
Ideally I would still like some torque but also some time to build some speed before RPMs max out.

If you dont like to shift go auto.
I dont think thats the answer.Where in the post did I say I dont like to shift
or I would prefer an automatic.
I like a 5 speed but like I said "Cant get much distant out of the lower gears

Did you just get the car or have you had it for a while? What rpm's is it in on the highway around 70 mph? Sounds like the gears are to high for what you want to do with it. 3.55 or 3.75 are great allround gears for both street and strip for a 5 speed. A higher percentage of people will tell you that 4.10 gears on a stick is a little too much if you drive the car on the highway allot. But for an auto the 4.10's are great.

actually, for city driving, lower gears (higher numerically) typically get better mileage. the engine has much less "load" with lower gears than with higher because it has to work less to get to a desired speed. torque multiplication.

4.10's are too much for a totally stock car in my opinon.. with the stock cam you run out of gear in the 1/4 which is gay and you can't hit the hammer lane on the freeway. My cars have 3.73 and 3.55's and still rip good.

i do it sometimes
There has to be a happy medium.
First gear is too short and second is a bit to much to start out in from a stop.
Geez I sound like a bitch ..never happy.
Mabey my its my clutch or tranny because honestly I like the torque
but doesnt feel like Im moving as fast as I should for as much as my engine is
flexing.

So sould I modify my cam or lower my gear?

I'd say find out what you got before you go changing.

2.95 is your first gear ratio, stock is like 3.35, this lower number makes first gear much better with 4.10. Like said before 4.10s are not good for a stock t-5 fox, just way to much gear.
