Shorty Header,331 Stroker question
I have been told two different things about shorty headers on a stroker motor.Can I use them on a 331 stroker or what?
I would like to hear from someone about this for sure.If I cant use them,I have someone who may be interested in buying them form me.

if u already have them then use them. everyone will tell you that you NEED long tubes but they're not absolutely necessary.

Yea I already have them.I just took them off of the car b/c I am pulling the motor for the stroker project.Well that would actually save me some money,not to have to buy long tubes right now.I have been told they would work and then I have been told no dont do it,I will choke the motor. I guess I will keep them and run em for a while and switch to long tubes later then.

Thats the thing. I would have change about the whole exhaust b/c right now I have turn downs,but I want to do the ss tips out the back,the ones that LRS sells.
for what possible gains you'd receive over the shorties. I honestly wouldn't go through the hassle of repurchasing the entire exhaust pretty much and dealing with the possible clearance issues and hassle of installing the longtubes.
Thats kind of what I was wondering,is it that big of a deal. I dont want it really kill my performance but if its not that big of a deal,then its going to save some money for sure not to have to purchase all the new exhaust parts.

Hell yes, Thankyou I have been waiting for someone to say this the entire time I have been a member.
Now we can just be the custom cam in everything forum insted of the custom cam and long tubes on everything forum.
Some go through the effort of making more power than the rest.....Some are satisfied finishing last
I,as well ,am glad to hear someoe say that longtubes are not a definite necessity.On other forums,they swear by longtubes or nothing at all.Thanks
Lt's do make more power but if you already have shorties they will work until you have the money to upgrade.
Wasn't there a sticky on lt's vs. shorties at midrange the shorties were actually better and high rpms the long tubes picked up like 10 - 12 hp more.
I could care less what a car sees for power gain on the dyno...What do big numbers on a dyno really mean??.... How fast does the motor make that power?
I am asking a question NOT stating a ****ing fact? The point was is there that much difference in the two. I have never ran anything but shorties on mustangs so I have nothing to compare to.
Guy on corral picked up 2mph on a stock fox swapping to lt's

well I am pretty sure more HP makes for a faster car. As long as all the other things are the same. weight, suspension, driver, etc. I would think that the car with more HP would be the one to cross the line first, but then again what do I know?I could care less what a car sees for power gain on the dyno...What do big numbers on a dyno really mean??....
