I deleted my smog when I changed my heads. I thought I had an exhaust leak at the headers but I changed my gaskets today and its the same. So, I felt around for air coming out and I found out that I forgot to plug the holes in the back of the heads haha. So tomorrow morning I'm gonna pick up some bolts from ACE. Anyone know the size bolt I should get?

The thread size in the head is 5/8-11.
The size of the thread in the Thermactor Plug (part # F4ZZ-6E086-A) is 5/16-18.
If you don't have the Thermactor Plugs in the heads, you can use a 5/8-11 x 3/4" long bolt from your local Hardware Store to plug the hole in the head. Most of the ones I have seen have had a 7/8" head on them.
I agree that using a bolt makes for a much cleaner look, if you can see them.
P.S. You might have to clean out the carbon deposits in the threads if your heads have been run with the Thermactor Tube previously hooked up and if everything was in working order.
Maybe this info. will help you out a little

The heads were cleaned up and rebuilt before I bought them. I remember looking and there no build up whatsoever so I'm not worrying about that. But thank you, that helped out alot. I'm gonna go pick up some bolts in the morning and hopefully get them in. Thanks again

anyone got pics of these holes in the back of the heads... that seems to b my problem to, someone had the pipe plugged, and my motor blew out the plug and now it sounds like crap. i didnt think the holes were threaded though in the back where the pipe goes in.i think this might also be the cause of my car revving at 3 grand for no reason..it never happend until it blew the plug out of the pipe, and then i shut the car off and restarted

Yeah, when my car had the holes unplugged it idled at like 1500 and acted like it had a vacuum leak and surged alot. If you feel on the back of the head towards the headers, there is a big hole. If yours are leaking, you will feel air coming out.
