Starting the rebuild (number 2!!)

I got an email today saying that patriot would stand behind their heads if thats whats wrong with my car. All i've got to do is ship my heads up there and they will check everything out and send them back. question is, to pull my heads i basically have to pull all the wiring and everything off. so would it be easier to go ahead and pull the motor then pull it all apart while on my engine stand?
I have to put a new clutch in it as well, so i figured i'd pull the motor and while the heads are shipped out i would do some work on the clutch (leaving the tranny under the car).

Or should i leave the block in the car, and drop the tranny to put the new clutch in?

if nothing leaks or wrong with short block, I would leave it in car and pull heads and trans. don't pull engine and leave trans in car, it is a real bitch to get lined back up. if you pull it pull trans and all
I leave my transmission in the car everytime I pull the engine. I have no issue getting it lined back up and I do it alone. I just remove the engine mounts. That makes it easy.
If you are changing the clutch I would suggest to remove the engine with the transmission attached. It will just make everthing much easier.
thats how i did the first build was pulling engine and tranny at one time. im trying to avoid doing that this time. its not hard, its just easier (by my self) to pull one or the other. i almost think its just as easy to pull the motor rather then the tranny. and since im doing this engine work? plus i have to put a new dip stick in the car ( the peice that goes in from the inside of the oil pan busted off some how? so now when i try to pull the dipstick it pulls the sleeve as well.

but your an auto, I leave auto's in car also. big difference with a standard
It wasn't always a auto.
Also, while my motor is taken apart, i would like to replace the plastic intake manifold with something more durrable and perhaps a little bit better flowing.

Now that i've got my new explorer, i will be devoting the mustang to a track car, that see's some street use. Any one know of a nice intake at a fair price?
Edelbrock
Stock
I know the stock preforms good, but i didnt know if there was a "stock" one that is fab'd out of metal?

The Typhoon from Professional Products is pretty much this.

read boostangs thread(just above yours at the moment) do not risk bending the clutch disc, pull them both out
i think what im going to do is pull the motor out. then while the heads are being built, i will pull the tranny and then put the new clutch and everything in, and then bolt the tranny and motor back together. then when the heads get in i will put them on the block and slap it back into the car i guess.

I dont mean to thread jack but how do you take the dipstick sleeve out without breaking anything? lol

good man there, auto swap :D
well, progress is coming along with the motor pull. got all of the AC lines and parts stripped out (not going back on) and the wiring harness all pulled. im still debating on whats going to be easier, pulling with or with out the tranny. its beginning to look like with the tranny. but idk yet.

no photos yet, but i've taken a bunch!
