Ya a basic metric socket set would be the way to go with a basic torx set. You could get a decent set of each for around 100 total at sears.

Ya it gets to be a pain not having the right tools. Im a GM mechanic and when I go home and work on my car I don't have near the tools I have at work and it is frustrating. I am always thinking oh this would be easy if I had my 15mm swivel socket or my 1/4 air ratchet. I do however sometimes bring home tools if I know I got a big job.

did you have a ball joint press? did you soak them in wd-40 or PB blaster the night before? Worked like a charm on mine. Also, you may need a long pipe and a strong arm.
