Does anyone know if i should just take out the shift stops in my shifter, i have an 03 mustang so i believe thats the TR series transmission and has built in shift stops.

even though the transmission tells you not to? and if so how would i even know where to put them?

Back the stops all the way out. Take the shifter and ease it into third gear. As soon as you feel it engage, move the stop to it. Then do the same with fourth gear. Then both stops will be set correctly.

Instructions tell you exactly how to set em as previously stated, I did it like told but I always wondered that same thing

I've always used the stops, and used them on my Tri-Ax with the 3650. Properly adjusted they prevent shift fork damage.

As MineralGreyGT said, the factory stops are not designed for the abuse we put our shifter through. Please leave the stops in.

I always leave them in but I put the shifter in third and hold it forward, then adjust the stop to it, same for fourth gear.
