they came with different housings depending if it was a stick of auto the stick trans used a bigger turbo that is better suited for a twin turbo 5.0. you should look into the garretts that came on 83-86 TCs since they were better turbos than the IHIs that came on later years.

turbolx- idk what ur getting at but here is all the sizing for OEM turbofords

first number is cold side A/r and second is hot side A/r
all turbos are same regardless of 5 speed or auto
>>autos ran less boost and less agressive timing tables with different computers

the only .48 hot side A/r came on late SVO and nearly all XR4TIs

all T3s other than 87-88 TC as its a Warner-IHI

83-84 GT Turbo (all) .60 & .63 A/r
83-84 Capri RS Turbo (all) .60 & .63 A/r
84-86 XR7 Cougar Turbo (all) .60 & .63 A/r
84-85 SVO (all) .60 & .63 A/r
85.5-86 SVO (all) .60 & .48 A/r
83-86 TC (all) .60 & .63 A/r
87-88 TC (all) IHI turbo same for 5speed/auto(different rating system)
85 XR4TI (all) .60 & .63 A/r
85.5-89 XR4TI (all) .60 & .48 A/r

and just like i posted on his other post people are running twin IHI turbos! they arent going to make ground breaking power and will run out of flow at high rpm but...
it is possible and they are smaller but are suited to stock heads and intakes etc... lots of great low end with fast spool time!

people need to research more before they post ( you cant do this or that!)
