Me and a good fried of mine are bulding some cars up.

He is trying to keep up with me so we are building them piece by piece.

I have a 1994 Toyota Supra that I will be building he chose the Stang.
We are not mechnical engineers by and stretch of the means. His newest project is a 1994 Ford Mustang GT 5.0.


This is what we have compiled as a start what else will we need. We are also looking for a good place to purchase these itmes, dont mind used, for a good price.
Edelbrock Upper and lwoer manifold fit 1994 5.0
24Lb injectors
190 Fuel Pump
70 MM Mass air
Trhottle body
Superchaer pro charger 18+ Lbs
Upgraded Sensor for injectors
Stock Rods and Pistons or Build if so which kind AFR?

Any help for us would be greatl apprecaited. Thanks!!!!!

are you saying you plan on running 18 lbs of boost on a stock block?
you will definately have to upgrade the entire shortblock area......and with a blower i would look for a 80 mm blow through mass air meter...and at least a 75 mm throttle body.....and with that size blower your gona need more like 42 lb injectors
You are going to need to build the bottom end of the car. With that much boost and that small of an injector you are going to blow the bottom apart the first time you romp on it.
18lbs of boost.....starting off kind of low aren't you?

You're going to have to replace/beef up so much stuff to run that kind of power.

transmission, torque boxes, clutch, block, fuel system(pump, injectors, rail, lines, etc.) MAF, TB, etc.....
Do some research before you go buying all of that stuff...I think you know what you guys are looking for. Maybe the question to these fox guys should have been I want XXX ammount of Hpor XXX E.T....whats best/safest way to acheive it. They come up wit some pretty sick combos.
With that little amount of boost you wont even need a bypass valve lol. Just kidding thats a crap load of pressure for anything but a serious shortblock
The factory 5.0 block may be lame but don't feel its lame just because people are questioning the 18# ;)

This is just a guess but is the guy that wants the 18# of boost thinking about larger engines? 18# of boost on a 2.5l engine is not the same as 18# of boost on a 5.0l engine and completely different power gains would be seen from each.
*In general*, the larger the engine, the more CFM of air will be forced through the engine for each pound of boost that is added. That results in larger power gains when mixed with the right amount of fuel is mixed with that air. "Boost" is the measured result of forcing some amount of additional air into an engine, not something directly created by a turbo or a supercharger. Instead of messuring the pressure result in the intake system when using boost, having a measurement of CFM and temperature of that air would be much more useful in determining what is going on in there.
First off, I would like to thank all of you for the time to respond and your contirbutions.

Ok we have two stages to this build the engine has a knock so while we were fixing that we assumed to replace the injectors and do everything except for the supercharger.

The supercharger once that is added we will be doing the additional upgrades needed to handle the increase in power.

1. the 24 LB injectors we were going to buy now to get the car running. When we purcahse aSupercarger kit that will get us the upgrade injectors etc.

2. The end goal will be around the 500-600HP mark. Depending on the necessary upgrades in order to achieve these marks. What would you Guys suggest as far as builds are concerned? Want it to be quality parts but nothing ridiculus.


3. What part of the block needs to be upgraded?

Our there good places to go buy these for decent prices?

If those are your number goals, then don't go with the stock 302 block, It will split on you. Either go for a 351 upgrade or look into an aftermarket block that is built to handle those numbers.

Ok he seems to be leaning to the 351 side. I will go over it with him again. So i Guess the question would be How far can we safetly push the stock block? What upgrades would you suggest?

What he said. This wont be cheap to make those numbers with and kind of RELIABILITY. Sure you can make those numbers cheaping out, but in the long run it will cost you more to cheap out, rather than do it the right way the first time.

A 302 block is "safe" up to around 450-500 crank hp. I say "around" because everybody has had different luck with it. I've even seen guys say up to 550. Not with stock internals though of course. And with a good tune. A 351 I've heard all the way up to 700-800 hp for the block... Never seen this in person and that is just a figure read a quite a bit in different forums. Also assuming you install internals that can hold the power and a good tune. Maybe someone on here with firsthand experience can verify that.
I greatly appreciate all the feedback. We are looking for a reliable build. That is why we figured a little more research and forum postig was in order for his project. Some things have been upgraded and done to the car. I will compile a list and take some pictures for you guys.

Any other feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the above information. We are still attempting to do the build with compatiable parts to push the stock block. But we would like to only use parts taht will be transferrable to the 351 once we take that step and add a supercharger at tahttime.
You need to do the bottom end internals. I have a stock block that was punched to a 306 and all new upgraded internals, trick flow top end kit with scorpion 1.6 rollers, 70mm maf, 75mm throttle body 36# injectors twin t3-t4 turbo kit from SS Auto Chrome and I just hit 455.7hp and 510 rwhp

shouldnt you be making more power with a TT kit.....or do you just have it tuned down because of the stock block
